Doing business more sustainably: Engel & Zimmermann is the first PR agency to meet ZNU standard
Gauting near Munich, February 2020. Sustainably successful: Engel & Zimmermann from Gauting near Munich is now the first PR agency ever to be certified according to the “ZNU Standard for Sustainable Management”. This comprehensive standard requires intensive examination of sustainable corporate management and tests performance in the fields of action environment, economy and social affairs. “We used the ZNU standard to bundle and structure our existing sustainability activities and expand them where it makes sense – an elaborate process on which we worked for over a year,” says Frank Schroedter, member of the Management Board at Engel & Zimmermann. “This certification shows: We are serious about sustainable business!”
At the end of 2019, Engel & Zimmermann underwent two days of testing by an independent auditor, who assessed the structure and implementation of sustainability management against the 44 requirements of the ZNU standard. In addition to topics such as human resources development, sustainable procurement or regional commitment, the focus is also on the climate footprint.

Under this model, CO2 certificates from a “Gold Standard” wind energy project are set aside. In addition, Engel & Zimmermann invests in tree plantations that Plant-for-the-Planet implements in Mexico. In both cases, the assessment basis is the total amount of CO2 that Engel & Zimmermann emits annually, so that the emissions are compensated in double the amount. […]
